Create your first work block
Choose one task with a clear stopping point. Start with a realistic estimate rather than filling every available minute. Add preparation or background details to its description.
- Add a task to the day you want to work on it, such as 'Draft the introduction'.
- Open the task and choose its clock control. Set a start time of 09:00 and an end time of 09:45.
- Review the other items on that day and adjust the times yourself if they overlap. Leave room before your next commitment.
Example: a morning with a meeting
With a meeting at 11:00, try one writing block from 09:00-09:45 and a review block from 10:00-10:30. The gap allows a break, and the final half hour leaves room to prepare for the meeting. A small task such as sending a document can stay untimed if you do not need a reserved slot.
If the writing takes longer, edit its end time and review the next block. Moving one task does not automatically rebalance the rest of this plan. At the end of the session, mark it complete or schedule the remaining work for another suitable time.
Choose the view that suits your planning
Week, Month and Timeline are free. Open Timeline to see an hour-by-hour layout, drag tasks and adjust their time blocks. All views use the same saved tasks and keep their dates and times when you switch views.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Premium to add task times?
No. Start and end times and the visual hour-by-hour Timeline are free, including in local plans without an account. Setting a separate deadline and creating a checklist require Premium; neither is needed for the work blocks in this guide.
Can I use my time blocks offline?
Open YakoPlan online first to prepare offline access. Local plans save in this browser. For account plans, check that the dates you need are already available on this device before disconnecting. Supported offline edits sync when you reconnect.
